ACCESSIBILITY

1. Our Commitment

Brakko aims to make this website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of the technology or approach they use to access it. We work toward Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our conformance target and review the site periodically against that standard.

This statement covers the website at brakko.sbs. It was last reviewed in July 2025.

2. Conformance Target

Our target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This means we aim to meet all Level A and Level AA success criteria set out in that standard, covering perceivability, operability, understandability and robustness of the web content we publish.

3. Measures Taken

In building and maintaining this site, we have taken the following steps toward the WCAG 2.1 AA standard:

• Semantic HTML — we use appropriate heading hierarchy, landmark regions (header, main, footer, nav), and semantic elements such as details and dialog throughout
• Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are reachable and operable by keyboard; focus order follows a logical reading sequence; focus is never trapped except in the cookie dialog, where it is managed correctly
• Colour contrast — text and interface elements are designed to meet or exceed a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against their backgrounds for normal text; large display text meets the 3:1 requirement
• Reduced-motion support — the site respects the prefers-reduced-motion media query; transitions are disabled for users who have indicated a preference for reduced motion
• Descriptive alternative text — images include meaningful alt attributes that describe the content and context of each image; decorative elements carry empty alt attributes
• Labelled forms — all form inputs have associated label elements; required fields are marked programmatically and visually
• ARIA attributes — where native HTML semantics are not sufficient, ARIA roles and attributes are used to communicate state and purpose to assistive technology
• Responsive layout — the site is built mobile-first and adapts to viewport sizes from handset through desktop without horizontal scrolling or content overlap

4. Known Limitations

We are aware of the following limitations that we are working to address:

• The cookie preference dialog uses a div-based overlay rather than a native <dialog> element on some browsers; keyboard focus management may be inconsistent in older browser versions
• Content images are supplied by a placeholder service during development; the final localised images may require additional alt text review once in place
• Third-party embedded content — such as the Google Maps iframe — is outside our direct control and may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA; we provide a text address as an alternative
